Simulated gastrointestinal digestion-on-a-chip

Background and objectives

ProteinoPepS is a tripartite Industrial Chair, made up of two INRAE research laboratories based in Lille: UMR UMET and UMRt BioEcoAgro; and an industrial partner Ingredia, an ETI working on the dairy protein ingredients and nutrition markets. ProteinoPepS aims to produce and transfer knowledge to master the transformation of dairy proteins to confer new functional and/or biological properties on them.
In this context, the objectives of this post-doctorate, which will be carried out in close collaboration with the IEMN (Institute of Electronics, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology), are the following:
• To develop a microfluidic model of gastrointestinal digestion to mimic the kinetics of the appearance of peptides generated during the hydrolysis of milk proteins to compare the results with those obtained with the in vitro models already used in the laboratory.
• To develop a biomimetic "organ-on-a-chip" model of the intestinal barrier (cell lines) to monitor the passage of peptides and minerals through the cellular compartment.
• Couple these two models to allow dynamic peptidomics analysis in the different compartments during the gastrointestinal digestion of milk proteins.

Profile required

Doctoral degree, scientific background in microfluidics preferred. Mastery of cell culture techniques and/or enzymology would be a plus.Desired skills: autonomy, rigour, organisation, self-confidence
Good writing and synthesis skills (at least in English)
Strong team spirit and ability to communicate with all stakeholders


Post-doctorate at the University of Lille (approx. 50k€/year for a net salary : 2350 €/month)

12-month contract (possibly renewable)
