ProteinoPepS in the study day

Participation of the ProteinoPepS Industrial Chair in the study day "Crossed Views on Valorization and Scientific Mediation in Companies and Universities"

On Friday, February 28, 2025, the study day "Crossed Views on the Valorization and Scientific Mediation in Companies and Universities" was held at the Lilliad Learning Center Innovation in Villeneuve-d'Ascq. This event, organized by the Geriico research unit (University of Lille), is part of the SAPS-Merlin project and the "Sciences With and For Society" roadmap of the University of Lille

Rozenn Ravallec, Professor at the University of Lille and co-holder of the ProteinoPepS Industrial Chair on the UMRt BioEcoAgro side, along with Alain Baniel, R&D Manager at Ingredia and industrial partner of the Chair, opened the day with an inaugural lecture on the dissemination of research. This presentation provided insight into the issues and challenges related to transferring scientific knowledge to companies and society, particularly in the field of proteins and innovative food ingredients.

Their presentation addressed several essential aspects of valorization and the management of scientific data in a partnership context. They highlighted challenges related to intellectual property, data confidentiality, and the different timelines between academia and industry. They also emphasized the importance of clearly defining scientific communication objectives, whether for publications, patents, or conferences aimed at the general public. The issue of data storage and sharing was also raised, with a particular focus on the constraints imposed by collaboration contracts and the challenges of open science.

Throughout the day, various roundtable discussions brought together researchers, industry professionals, and scientific mediation actors to discuss research communication strategies and the organization of data sharing in R&D, including our BioEcoAgro laboratory, represented by, Professor Jean-Louis Hilbert. A specific conference on the SAPS label also highlighted the importance of institutional structuring to promote dialogue between science and society. The lunch break provided an opportunity for a visit to Xperium, a space dedicated to showcasing ongoing research.

The participation of Rozenn Ravallec and Alain Baniel in this event highlights the commitment of the ProteinoPepS Chair to the dissemination and valorization of applied research. By fostering exchanges between academics and industry professionals, the Chair actively contributes to strengthening interactions between science and society, a key challenge for the development of innovative solutions in the field of proteins.

We thank the organizers of this event for this opportunity for exchange and sharing, and we look forward to the future collaborations that will arise from it.
