VALORIS project

VALORIS project

The VALORIS project explores this challenge in bioeconomy through a field-based approach at UMRt BioEcoAgro.

The VALORIS project aims to develop and evaluate a strategy for scientific outreach and research valorization within the UMRt BioEcoAgro laboratory, a key player in the field of bioeconomy. This laboratory—at the intersection of industrial partnerships, cross-border collaborations, and interdisciplinary research—offers a valuable setting to explore current practices in research valorization, whether through publications, patents, licenses, or technical datasheets, and the tensions that may arise from them.

While the issue of tensions between open science and research valorization has already been addressed in a recent doctoral thesis (Duquenne, 2024), VALORIS shifts the focus to the situated practices of a research laboratory. The project adopts both qualitative and quantitative approaches to gain a detailed understanding of the current mechanisms, identify key enablers and barriers, and assess their impacts. The ultimate goal is to co-develop, with relevant stakeholders, a transferable and replicable strategy that can be applied to other research units, in support of public research valorization and outreach missions—particularly in relation to ecological transition challenges. The #VALORIS project explores this challenge in bioeconomy through a field-based approach at UMRt BioEcoAgro.
